About the Opportunity Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) is seeking a qualified Auto Electrician to join its Engineering team in Saldanha. This role is ideal for skilled artisans with experience in electrical maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs on heavy cargo handling equipment. The successful candidate will help ensure that port equipment remains safe, reliable, and fully operational to support efficient port operations. Key Responsibilities *Preventative Maintenance -Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on cargo handling equipment. -Ensure equipment reliability and operational availability. -Identify potential electrical issues before they lead to breakdowns. *Fault Diagnosis and Repairs -Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns. -Diagnose electrical faults and carry out repairs efficiently. -Minimise downtime and restore equipment to operational condition. *Equipment Monitoring -Monitor equipment performance and functionality. -Identify misuse, defects, and operational deviations. -Report findings and recommend corrective actions. *Apprentice Development -Assist with on-the-job training and mentoring of apprentices. -Support skills development and knowledge transfer. *Planning and Spare Parts Management -Assess repair requirements and spare parts needs. -Provide accurate specifications for replacement components. -Coordinate with supervisors to ensure timely procurement of parts.
